After installation, and Polipo having configured the Web browser to use Polipo, the Web browser is only able to make use of Tor when both Tor and Polipo are also running as well.
Running Tor will auto-start Polipo (assuming it has also been installed): Menu > Network > Tor
The Tor network relies on volunteers to donate bandwidth. The more people who run relays, the faster the Tor network will be. If you have at least 20 kilobytes/s each way, please help out Tor by configuring your Tor to be a relay too.
