tar create/restore archives

Verify the currently installed version by entering the following into the command-line interface:
tar --version

tar software package(s)

tar-1.24-f-20101025.pet

Extracting tar archives

Tar by default will extract the file according to its extension:
tar xfv file.EXTENSION

Creating tar archives

tar cfv archive.tar [files...]
