Revision [10449]
This is an old revision of JavaRuntimeEnvironment made by coolpup on 2010-11-03 15:56:12.
N.B. Javascript has nothing to do with Java Runtime Environment
jre-1.6.0.22.pet {0c1faff3902c8f07f6792b0fd665eaeeb1c768fb sha1sum SHA1 checksum}
- file date 2010-10-19
- installs to mnt/home/java/which is outside any save file
- not for FAT32 partitions (because the package makes use of symbolic links); if you normally use FAT with U.S.B. flash drives, use ntfs3g NTFS instead; it is a better file system; use GRUBforDOS to boot it up/
- absolutely no warranty given or implied; use entirely at your own risk
For frugal Puppy installations this Java installation is only retained when a personal storage save file has already been created; a save file is created during the procedure of re-booting/shutting down for the very first time following a new frugal Puppy installation.

Manual installation: download J.R.E. from www.java.com; select the file without rpm in its name. After it has downloaded right-click on the file and select Permissions and then Yes, so as to make the file executable. Right-click on the white space inside the window that contains the file and select Window > Terminal Here, and enter (XX=version number)
./jre-6uXX-linux-i586.bin
The file is automatically unpacked and its contents are placed inside a newly created directory named jre1.6.0_XX. From this point advanced users will know what to do with it.
